Updates from The Children's Room:


NATURE EXPLORATIONS: Tuesdays, 10-11:30 am @ various trailheads in the area. Get outside for some fresh air and fun! Every week we go to a different trailhead or natural area to explore and connect with the natural world and with each other. Activities are hands-on and facilitated by an instructor. Ages 0-6 and carriers are helpful for little ones! Email childrensroom@huusd.org to sign up. Enrollment is always open!


MUSIC & MOVEMENT: Wednesdays, 10:30-11:30 @ the SAL Room of the Waterbury Public Library. Ready for some singing, moving & playing? Come join us for Music & Movement! We begin by singing songs and moving together and allow time at the end to play on the swings and slide, as well as time for parents to socialize too! Ages 0-6. Masks required for all participants 2 years old and up. All The calendar will be updated the morning of by 8:00 am for cancellations.


BABY CIRCLE: Thursdays, 1:00-2:00 pm. This informal, drop-in, weekly meet-up group is for pregnant or postpartum parents & caregivers. Join us for connection and theme-based discussions via Zoom. 7 week series cycles, zoom format for sessions 1-6 and in person for the 7th session! Enrollment is always open! Special Events:


BIG TOY NIGHT! Saturday, April 9th @ Brookside Primary School Gym, 3:00-5:30 pm. Our ever popular indoor wheeled event is back! Bring your trikes, bikes, big wheels, and helmets to cruise around the gym as you escape the mud and rain at this ​high-energy, family event. FREE. Snacks are provided. Geared towards ages 0-6.


DABBLE DAYS SPRING ART FLING! Sunday, May 1st @ Brookside Primary School Gym, 11:00 am - 1:30 pm. Bring a friend along for ripping, tearing, taping, pasting, painting, and molding. Dabble Days is a craft-themed free event geared toward ages 2-6. Suggested donation of $5 per child.

TDI Summer Camp 2022!


Parents and teachers--do you have an advanced, gifted, or creative child, entering grades 4-9, who would love to have fun with intellectual peers this summer, while exploring a wide variety of topics?


Consider sending them to the Talent Development Institute (TDI Summer Camp) 2022!


A sample of our classes includes: Computer Game Design, Explorers of Gem Hollow, Case of the Green Ping Pong Ball, Simulating Chaos, Clowning Around, Gravity-Powered Catapults, Movie Making, TDI Puppet Show, Fake News and Propaganda, Model UN-der the Sea, Vaximake, and Discover BioPlastics, Rube Goldberg Machines, Writing and Laughing, and Improvise!


This summer, TDI Summer Camp will once again (after a couple of summers of virtual programming) take place on the beautiful campus of Northern Vermont University, Johnson, Vermont.


Students may come for one or two weeks, June 19-25 and/or June 26-July 2, 2022. There are overnight and commuter options, and partial scholarships are available.

Boys: (morning) 8:30am - 12pm

Clyde Whittemore Little League Registration!

Registrations for Clyde Whittemore Little League is open! Program options are available for ages 3-12 for both boys and girls. Program options are the following:


1. My Tee - This is our introduction to baseball for 3 to 6 year olds who have never swung a bat or thrown a ball.


2. Tee Ball - This program, for players ages 5 - 7, focuses on learning the fundamentals of hitting and throwing, with the addition of team play.


3. Farm League - This program, for players ages 7-8, builds skills and understanding to prepare players to play real games. Fundamentals of hitting and throwing will be stressed, with additional instruction on positional play, and the introduction of hitting a moving ball.


4. Major and Minor League- Our Competitive programs (where the players pitch to one another, we keep score, and play against teams from other towns) begin with Minors (ages 8-10) and Majors (ages 10-12).
