Subject:  HUUSD Vision Draft: Your Comments Welcome!

Dear members of our six town community,

On August 28, 2019, the Harwood Unified Union School District (HUUSD) Board of Directors reviewed a draft vision statement presented by the board visioning committee. We would like to extend an invitation to our communities to join us in providing comments and feedback. Our goal is to approve part or all of this statement  at our September 11 meeting.

DEADLINE TO PROVIDE FEEDBACK: THURSDAY SEPT 5, 12:00 NOON

Here is a link to the vision statement:  https://docs.google.com/document/d/1vgqDb-3SRG9GN_KTOt8ZqjgubuFDreEmJjdMRsY3ky0/edit?usp=sharing

To provide feedback, send an e-mail to Board Member Maureen McCracken at mmccracken@huusd.org. Any and all feedback is welcome. Please note it will be seen and reviewed by the visioning team and will be made available to board members and the public as well.

WHAT WILL THE VISION STATEMENT DO?

The purpose of a district vision is to help guide decisions at all levels in our organization, including some of the more substantial ones we expect to be making in the coming months. The vision also provides a framework for the board’s ongoing monitoring role, and the board has already started discussing how we will approach monitoring our district’s progress toward the vision once it is finalized.

HOW DID YOU CHOOSE THESE WORDS?:

This vision statement is the direct result of an extensive process last spring that involved over 700 community members who participated in the 3-Word Survey, and approximately 65 people who came to one of the seven vision community conversation events held throughout our district. We are deeply grateful for - and humbled by - the many people who engaged in this effort and took the time out of their busy lives to help ensure that the board heard from many members of our community. The statement reflects many of the exact words that community members used, but it’s important to note the final vision represents our adoption of these key concepts as guidance for our work.

Thank you for your continued support and engagement.

Respectfully,

The HUUSD Board
